2023 Accomplishments

PCUW is proud to say that we accomplished so much during 2023. We conducted many drives to help our community.

School Supplies Drive

Over the summer we held a school supply drive. We worked together with local businesses and organizations to form 12 collection sites. We are pleased to report that we collected over 9,000 items for students in need.

Donated supplies were packed into backpacks and donated to several different schools in Plymouth-Canton and surrounding districts.

Hygiene Supplies Drive

Kids in our community are in need of hygiene items. The Plymouth Community United Way worked with local businesses, organizations, schools, and individuals to collect hygiene items for students in need in the Plymouth-Canton school district. During our hygiene drive, we received nearly 1800 items, including dental items, feminine hygiene, deodorant, body lotion, and more.

We are looking to expand our reach and assist with implementing full hygiene closets in schools in for 2024-2025 school year. Hygiene drives will begin this May, where we will set up donation boxes at local businesses. If you are interested in participating in our hygiene supply drive, please contact us.

Food Drives

We received nearly 1,000 items during various food drives, courtesy of local companies, restaurants, and individuals. All food donations were distributed to local food pantries.

Hats for the Homeless

Our Hats for the Homeless drive, which ran from October through December, collected over 3,800 items thanks to our local partners.

Help Us Set Up a Drive at Your Business

The Plymouth Community United Way works with many local businesses to set up drives to help our community in need. If you are interested in partnering with us to serve our community, please call us at (734) 453-6879, or email PlymouthUnitedWay@pcuw.org.

Make a Difference Day 2023

Our annual Make a Difference Day always proves to be a day of true community.  Each year in November, volunteers rake leaves and clean up yards for seniors and lower-income residents around Plymouth and Canton. In 2023, 211 volunteers assisted 31 homes. The morning of the event we held a continental breakfast at the First United Methodist Church in Plymouth, who have generously allowed us to use their facility for the past several years to host this event.

Special thanks go out to local businesses Bakehouse46, Einstein Brothers Bagels Plymouth locations, Holiday Market, and Absopure Water Co. for supplying a very delicious breakfast for our volunteers.

We are so grateful for everyone who participated in Make a Difference Day, and we are excited to continue the event this year.
